Her father has said that bullying convinced her she had little choice but “to escape the evil in this world”. Heartbreaking and I can only nod in resigned agreement, in my experience there is too much evil; mean, nasty, divisive, and rude. It hurts just to think about how rough the everyday can be. Closing up or closing off would mean losing parts of ourselves, our most tender and loving parts – our sweet vulnerability and humanity. I don’t know the antidote, how to save oneself from all that comes towards us.
