Suicide should not be a taboo subjectJohn Brogden says If you remember only one thing after reading this today, please let it be this: most suicides are preventable, and you can do something about it.”

John Brogden is a Director of Lifeline Australia, his advice is to be receptive and listen, spend time with a vulnerable person to show you care. Simply by trying to understand what they are going through, you help.

He says “Be encouraging and helpful. Don’t assume the problem will just go away.”

I do want to support John Brogden’s comments as suicide should not be a taboo topic. I also need to be assured, as someone who lost someone special to suicide, that some suicides are not entirely preventable. We should anyway do what we can.
